Police recovered the body of a 40-year-old East Jerusalem resident in the Wadi Rahal area near Bethlehem on Monday. Officers, forensic specialists, and IDF soldiers secured the site and collected evidence. The body is scheduled for transfer to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute. Initial assessments classify the incident as criminal rather than terror-related.
In a distinct incident, Israeli security forces detained a Palestinian resident of Bethlehem during overnight raids on Sunday. Police identified the suspect as having affiliations with Hamas. Three individuals were arrested during the military operation. Search teams targeted the home of the alleged operative and a second resident suspected of holding weapons. Confiscated items included a loaded hunting rifle, IDF uniforms, and various technological devices. The two primary suspects were moved to the Ma'ale Adumim police station. They face charges for carrying and possessing illegal weapons and unauthorized military equipment.
A separate search near Hebron resulted in the arrest of a man in his 30s. Officers discovered a hunting rifle and a large quantity of ammunition in his possession. In central Israel, police located a significant cache of stolen military hardware in Kalansuwa. This discovery occurred during a broader initiative aimed at reducing violent crime in the Arab sector. Two family members present at the scene were arrested for questioning. All seized items were submitted as potential evidence.
The cache in Kalansuwa contained one Kalashnikov rifle, three M-16 assault rifles, and eight handguns. Officers also secured six fragmentation grenades, two stun grenades, and thousands of rounds of ammunition. Three tactical vests were recovered from the open area. A police explosives expert handled the grenades upon discovery. The investigation into the Kalansuwa seizure remains active.
Police rescued a resident of Rahat over the weekend during an operation to locate illegal weapons. Officers discovered the man chained to the floor of his home. One of his legs was shackled to the ground. Police freed the man and investigated the circumstances of his confinement. Preliminary findings indicate that his own family members chained him due to drug use. His brother, also a Rahat resident, was arrested and taken to the local police station for questioning.
