Catholic Memorial High School in Foxborough held a senior night for its boys’ soccer team on Wednesday. The Knights finished the regular season with a 10-3-2 record. They sit at No. 12 in the current national rankings and sixth in the MIAA Division 1 power rankings.
The squad’s transformation began with coach Chris Bingham, who took over the program before the 2024 season. The team won only one game three years prior. In 2025, the Knights posted a 9-5-4 record and qualified for the MIAA tournament for the first time since 2009. That marked a 16-year gap between postseason appearances.
Senior captain Nico Suarez noted the emotional weight of the current roster. “It took a lot from us to get where we are right now,” Suarez said. The team includes three senior captains: Suarez, Jonny Camargo, and Chino Azurdia Cedeno. All three played for Bingham at the youth level before joining the high school program.
Azurdia Cedeno leads the team with 13 assists and six goals. He connects with Walter Martinez, who has six goals and nine assists. Freshman Arthur Da Silva has eight goals and three assists. Camargo has six goals and five assists. Suarez contributes six goals and three assists from the back line, where he shifted from outside back to center back this season.
The Knights finished second in the Catholic Conference, two points behind BC High. They placed ahead of St. John’s, Xaverian, and St. John’s Prep in the final standings. Bingham credited the senior leaders for carrying the culture of the lean years into the current roster. “Being here over the years, learning from what our captains have showed us,” Camargo said, “has been a really big part of this.”
The team lost its league title bid to St. John’s of Shrewsbury on Thursday. The squad now looks to the state tournament, where the bracket will be released on Nov. 6. Azurdia Cedeno said the group is focused on the upcoming postseason. “This is what we’ve been waiting for all three years, right?” he said. “There’s a lot on the line.”
